Jason, 39, died of "black jaundice" in Clifton, Idaho.

He was born Sept. 2, 1837 near Yorkville, Tenn. to Thomas Charles Davis and Sarah Stewart Howell. He was the oldest of 5 boys. When Jason was 8 yrs old they moved to Nauvoo, Ill. In 1846 the family left Nauvoo and moved to Pisga. They stayed while Jason's father served in the Mormon Battalion. They moved to Payson, Utah and stayed there for 9 yrs. Then they moved to Franklin, Ida. It was the first permament settlement in Ida.

He married Jane Moorehead Thomas on July 7, 1861. Jason was a farmer and a miller. He enjoyed dancing, singing and he played the violin.
He married Mariah Thomas, Janes younger sister, on Dec. 12, 1870, in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He died Nov. 29, 1883 in Clifton, Ida. He is survived by his two wives; 7 children, Martha Jane, Sarah Louise, William Preston, David Taylor, Joseph Elihu, Lydia Angelina and Jason Elihu Jr; and his parents. He is preceded in death by a son, Jason Henry.

There was no cemetery in Clifton at this time, his final resting place is on the family farm and no sign of it exists of it today.
