June H. Kovac, 83, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, in Port Charlotte, Fla.

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Fr. Basil and Zaika Kerbawy . June traveled and lived with her husband, Peter, in the Middle East for over 25 years. She served as a translator and executive secretary for her husband, an executive for Aramco Oil Co. She was very knowledgeable in the Arabic language, having studied in Cairo. During World War II she served in the Women's Army Corps as a driver for the brigadier generals. June was a member of St. George Orthodox Church.

Mrs. Kovac was preceded in death by husband, Peter, parents, and three brothers. She is survived by stepson, Peter Kovac of Akron; sisters, Laurice Pappas of Sun City, Fla., Julie Mallen of New York City, Marie Kacanjian of New York City; brother-in-law, Charles Kovac of Akron; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. George Orthodox Church, 3204 Ridgewood Rd., Very Rev. Fr. Louis Mahshie officiating. Interment at East Akron Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz Funeral Home, 95 W. Waterloo Rd., where Trisagion services will be held Monday, 8 p.m. Donations may be made to St. George Orthodox Church, 3204 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333. (Kucko-Anthony-Kertesz, 724-1281.)
