She was born to the late Hosea Ezra Kersh and Vivian Stout Kersh. She lived most of her life in Palestine and was an active member of Lone Pine Baptist Church.
She worked fourteen years at Palestine Garment Factory as a seamstress. She used her skills to benefit family and friends by sewing everything from crafts and baby blankets to clothing as gifts of love. She enjoyed opening their home for get togethers to share food and friendship.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Hosea Kersh, Jr. and Leslie Kersh; and sister, Linda Kersh.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Raymond Martin; sons, Marlin Martin and Jimmy Martin; daughters, Wanda Vickery and Frances Martin; brothers, Freddie Kersh, Don Kersh, David Kersh; sister Jean Kutschild; fouteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Pallbearers: Rich Vickery, Ken Vickery, Greg Vickery, Chuck Cleveland, Chip Ramsey and Weston Fisher.
