Lula Frances Martin, 67, of Palestine died following a long battle with cancer.
She was born to William Pierce Kidd and Matilda Clark Kidd in Kentucky. She married General Clarence Martin in Kentucky September 7, 1907 and later moved to Texas becoming the parents of fifteen children.
She was the ultimate homemaker, caring for her husband and children, raising a garden and canning the harvest, tending chickens, quilting/mending and all the other things a mother and wife does.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sons, Baby Martin, Jack Martin and G. C. Martin, Jr.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, General Clarence Martin; four sons William Oscar Martin, Ernest Glenn Martin, Raymond Martin and Harold Loyd Martin; eight daughters, Lora Ethel Watson, Cora Mae Shirley, Flora Frances Neal, Inez Lee Veevers, Betty Bernice Lively, Joyce Marie Gregory, Irene Viola Wilson and Wanda Lou Wittlif; sister Laura Martin of Bowie; a half sister, May Baker of Kentucky; two half brothers, Dennis and Roland Kidd both of Kentucky and thirty nine grandchildren.
