PLATO CENTER - Betty A. Muirhead, 97, of Plato Center passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 in her home. She was born March 13, 1917 in Peoria Illinois, the daughter of Locke Harmon and Minnie Lord Spears. She was a graduate of Bradley University and taught Home Economics at Plato High School before marrying Glenn Muirhead on her birthday in 1944. She was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church. Surviving are 2 sons: Gordon (Jill) Muirhead of Plato Center; Arthur (Martha) Muirhead of Clifton, Virginia. Son-in-law: Lee Anderson of Wheaton, 5 grandchildren:Boyd Muirhead, Sarah (Andrew) Howard, David (Lindsay) Muirhead, Erin (Matt) Anderson, Garrett Anderson. 4 step grandchildren: Cole (Staci) Stone, Cindy (Clayton) Cihak, Craig (Pegi) Stone, Chad (Julie) Stone, and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband Glenn Boyd Muirhead and her daughter Frances Anderson. Memorial services will be held Monday, October 13 at 11:00 AM at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 41W170 Muirhead Road, with Rev. Seamus Enright officiating. Burial will be after the services. Visitation will be held Sunday from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM in the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Presence Hospice in Elgin. Laird Funeral Home, Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
