"Mrs. Rose R. Alcott, aged 62, of Schenevus, died unexpectedly Friday, December 13, in Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta. She was born December 11, 1901, at Cranbrook, Kent County, England, tne daughter of Thomas and Rose Greengrow. She came to the United States in 1910 and was married to Carlton R. Alcott on September 29, 1920, in Homer. She had lived in Schenevus for 35 years ... Surviving are her husband; five sons, Russell, J. Alcott of Huntsville, Ala., Carlton R. Alcott, Jr. of Wheeler Park, Rensselaer, Arthur E. Alcott of Rochester and James A. and Wayne Alcott of Schenevus; a sister, Mrs. Russell Alcott of Bainbridge; an uncle, Arthur Greengrow of Horseheads; a cousin, Mrs. Sarah Knowles of Truscott, 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. on Monday, December 16, from the Bennett Funeral Home in Schenevus, with the Rev. Daniel J. Herron, pastor of the Schenevus Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be later in Schenevus Cemetery. Rebekah services were conducted at the funeral home at 8 p. m. on Sunday."
