A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2005, at Salem Baptist Church in Sneads Ferry with the Rev. Glenn Bohannan officiating. Burial will follow at Rawls Family Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and India Leary Ottaway; two brothers, Carlton and Donald Ottaway; and one sister, Vistula Leary.
He was a veteran in the U.S. Army serving in the 82nd Airborne Division.
Mr. Ottaway is survived by his wife, Shirley Franklin Ottaway of the home; four sons, Charles Ottaway and his wife, Becky, of Bahama, Clarence Ottaway and his wife, Monique of Trenton, Ga., Barry Ottaway and his wife, Nancy, of Creedmore and Bryan Ottaway of Creedmore; one stepdaughter, Janet Snow of Fayetteville; three stepsons, Eddie Foy and his wife, Teresa, of Jacksonville, David Foy of Greenville, and Dana Hogan and his wife, Tracy, of Cary; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly, Tyler, Buddy, Holly, Christopher, Sydney, Brendan, Nicole, Chuck, Hope and Chasity; four great-grandchildren, Abby, Dylan, Justin and Jacob; four brothers, Darl, Henry, Edsel and O.V. Ottaway, all of Jacksonville; two sisters, Reba Rochelle and Madeline Turner, both of Jacksonville.∼He was the husband of Shirley Arlene Ottaway.
