Joseph A. Morgan, 83 of 2131 Charles Street died at 1 a.m. today in St. Elizabeth Hospital where he had been a patient two weeks. He had been in failing health five years.

Born at Sullivan, he was reared there and moved to Lafayette in 1927. He was married in Lafayette in 1929 to Lillian E. Miller who survives.

Mr. Morgan was a supply man for the Monon Railroad for 33 years, retiring in 1960.

He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Firemen and Oilers Union Local No. 641. He was a veteran of World War I with 12 years service in the Army.

Surviving with the wife are one son, Joseph A. Morgan Jr. of Lafayette and five daughters Mrs. Lester (Alberta) Emery, Mrs. Norman (Mary) Anthrop, Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Shoaf and Mrs. Marvin (Patricia) Anthrop, all of Lafayette and Mrs. Paul (Etta) Gray of Indianapolis.
