Joseph Franklin Adcock, a lifelong resident of Sutherland Springs, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 13, 2004, at the age of 84 years, 4 months, and 7 days.

He was born on Feb. 6, 1920, in Sutherland Springs to Alonzo and Pearl Baker Adcock.

Mr. Adcock was married to Lora Mills on March 23, 1938, in Sutherland Springs Baptist Church.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

Mr. Adcock was employed by Kelly Field Civil Service and the Sutherland Springs Water Supply.

He had been a member of Sutherland Springs Baptist Church and Unity Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Joseph Wayne Adcock.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Lora Mills Adcock of Sutherland Springs; daughters June C. McCloskey and husband R.B., and Ginger Adcock, all of Floresville; grandchildren Matthew McCloskey and wife Destarte, and Melissa Barfield and husband Anthony, all of Floresville; great-grandchildren Sage McCloskey, Shelby Timmins, Tristan McCloskey, and Lucas, Katlyn, and Justin Barfield; a sister, Margarite Minica of Sutherland Springs; a brother, Jennings Adcock and wife Ann of Victoria; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation was held on Monday, June 14, from 5-8 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home in Floresville.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Sutherland Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Jennings and the Rev. Lyn Means officiating.

Interment followed in the Sutherland Springs Cemetery.

Pallbearers were R.B. McCloskey, Matthew McCloskey, Anthony Barfield, Donald Minica, Keith Minica, and George Mills. Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Wilson, Joe Tatum, Ted Montgomery, and Jimmy Talley
