F. G. Alvord Is Dead at 82
Funeral Services Will Be Held Monday
Frederick G. Alvord, 82, father of D. Eaton Alvord, Syracuse attorney, died Saturday after a long illness. He had made his home with his son at 632 Scoville Avenue. Before retiring 15 years ago, Mr. Alvord was associated with the Houser Elevator Company. His son is general counsel for the Farmers & Traders Life Insurance Company. Mr. Alvord was born in the town of Salina, a son of Derrick and Elizabeth Grant Alvord, and he came to Syracuse as a child. He was the oldest member of Salina Lodge 97, I.O.O.F. He was a member of First Ward Presbyterian Church. On Sept. 2, 1879, he married the former Ella Sadler. She died on June 7, 1937. He is survived by his son and a grandson, William H. Alvord. Funeral services will be conducted at the Van Dusen funeral home, 136 West Castle Street, Monday at 11 A.M. by the Rev. William A. Smith of First Reformed Church. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 P.M. and from 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday.
