He is the Second oldest Son of Burton Cooper and Mary Elvira (Polly-Pauline) "Burgess" Cooper.

He was married to Mary Elvira Burgess, she was born in North Carolina. And she was the daughter of William Burgess.

They married on the 12th day of September 1846.
