Charles was born March 18, 1933, in Mt. Vernon, the son of Burrell and Fern (Phillips) Dodson.
He married Donna Adams on November 28, 1957, in Mt. Vernon. Charles attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling. He was a member of the Rock River Carvers, Swing Stars Square Dance Club, Otaga Campground and Pharaoh Hot Rod Club in Mt. Vernon.
Survivors include his wife, Donna; one daughter, Cheri (Dave) Lockhart; two sons, Gregory (Nancy) Dodson and Bradley (Crystal) Dodson; one sister, JoAnn Lehde; three grandchildren, Sarah Dodson, Justin and Luke Dodson and two step-grandchildren, Justin Bushman and Jessica Bushman.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bruce Dodson, in infancy; two sisters and five brothers.
Services will be held at 10 AM, Friday, May 18, 2012, at Schilling Funeral Home, with Reverend Bob Hasselbring of the First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be at the Oak Knoll Memorial Park, Sterling. Visitation will be from 5 - 8 PM, Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established to the Hospice of the Rock River Valley.
