Word has been received of the death of Rev. John Ironside, 51, at his home in Manhattan, Kans., on Jan. 18. Rev. Ironside, who was executive manager for the Winona Lake Christian Assembly several years ago, died of a heart attack. He was pastor of the College Baptist Church at Manhattan. Survivors are his widow, Sally, who teaches school, and a 12-year-old daughter, Martha. As a young man he followed a seafaring career, traveled around the world several times and became chief purser of the Dollar steamship lines. Later he studied for the ministry. His father, Dr. Harry Ironside was pastor of Moody Church in Chicago. Prior to coming to Winona Lake the son was dean of men at Moody Bible Institute.
