Funeral Services for J. R. McMahan Sr. Held Tuesday
Funeral services for Joseph Rufus McMahanSr., 50, who died at his home here Monday night, were heldat the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. F. D. Charlton, pastor of First Methodist Church, officiating.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Myrtle McMahan; two daughters, Mrs. S. H. Kirkham of Columbus and Mrs. M. H. Remschel of Gonzales; four sisters, Mrs. MinnieJacks, Mrs. S. Hale, Mrs. E. Lagow of Dallas and Mrs. A. L.Tapp of Terrell; one brother, W. McMahan of Los Angeles,California.

Mr. McMahan was born June 23, 1888 in Terrell, Texas. He had lived in Colorado County 25 years,and he was a member of Columbus school board thirteen years.

He was a member of Caledonia Lodge No 68A. F. and A. M., Columbus 29 years and a member of Arabia Temple of Houston.

Burial in Odd Fellows Rest was conducted by Caledonia Lodge and Knights Templer.

Pallbearers were W. G. Clayton, H. G.Hope, E. G. Miller, R. R. Hadden, E. H. Rabel and G.Stansbury.

Out-of-town attendants at the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Wealley Ragin, Mr. and Mrs. E. Ragin and Miss Ruby Ragin, Mrs. M. A. Dowdle of Houston; Mr. and Mrs.Russell Remschel, Mrs. J. F. Remschel and daughter Corrinne,Mrs. Robert Boothe, Mrs. R. A. Remschel and M. H. Remschelof Gonzales; Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Richardson of Manvel.
