Lydia Cassidy Dies at Age 78
Mrs. Lydia Ann Cassidy, age 78, 2340 Grand Ave., New Castle, died Wednesday evening in Henry County Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. She was born March 27, 1891 in Fleming Co., KY, the daughter of James and Hannah (Storey) Jackson.
Lydia had been a resident of New Castle for 54 years. She and her husband, James E. Cassidy, celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary December 4, 1969.
She is survived by her husband, James E. Cassidy; a son, Mitchell J. Cassidy of New Castle; daughter, Mrs. Terrill (Eileen) Montgomery of New Castle; five grandchildren; four sisters: Mrs. Rebecca Weber of Cincinnati, OH, Mrs. John (Ida) Erskine, Mrs. Thomas (Ada) Jackson and Mrs. George (Julia) Stillwell, all of New Castle; two brothers: Frank Jackson of Orangeburg, KY and Goble Jackson of Knightstown; and many nieces and nephews.
Lydia was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday in Macer Funeral Home with Reverends D.C. Stafford and R.E. Pavy officiating. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home after 4:00 p.m. Friday. The family will be present to receive friends from 4-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Friday.
