Rippeto and Sarah Temperance Ford. They moved to the Jackson County area in 1846.
Tensions ran high during the Civil War and split the family in two. While most of
the family supported the Confederate cause, William and his mother were pro-Union.
William enlisted at Westport on April 22, 1863. He served as a private in Company I,
6th Regiment, Kansas Cavalry Volunteers. William married Eveline Thomas in 1869.
They had 3 children. After Eveline passed away, he married Clarissa A. Dugan in 1872
in Jackson County, MO. They had 8 children. William died in 1888. William is buried
in the Linwood Pioneer Cemetery located in Leawood, KS. Charter member.
