Mr. Charles J. Barnes, 92, of Biloxi, MS died Saturday, June 26, 2010 in Gulfport. Mr. Barnes was born in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of Biloxi. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was in the restaurant business many years with his family and owned and operated Barnes' Drive-In on the beach in Biloxi. He retired from Northrop-Grumman after 18 years of employment. Mr. Barnes loved fishing, the New Orleans Saints and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his family. Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Estelle Barnes; four sisters, Thelma Stanley, Madeline Trochessett, Susie Klemm and Agnes Vignes; and daughter-in-law, Sandra Barnes. He is survived by his son, Charles Barnes, III of Gulfport; one daughter, Jan(Ronnie)Cook of D'Iberville; four grand-daughters, Robin (Steve) Grandonico, Lindsay Barnes, Stacey (Mario) Sapet, Kelly (Andrew) Marie; and four great grandchildren, Alex Grandonico, Ashlei Marie, Nicole Marie, Andrew Marie and Landon Sapet. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 29, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Howard Avenue, in Biloxi where friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. until service time. The family of Mr. Barnes would like to thank the nurses and staff of Greenbriar Nursing Home, Select Specialty Hospital and Canon Hospice for the special care and attention they provided Mr. Barnes.
