DEATH OF MRS. J. I. HOLZAPFEL

Mrs. Johanna Ida Holzapfel died at her home Monday morning, Jan. 29, after an illness of several months. The funeral services were held from the residence of William Holzapfel Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. D. McCormick had charge of the services. Interment was in Larned cemetery.

The deceased was born Dec. 15, 1849, near Dresden, Germany, and was aged 62 years, 1 month and 14 days at the time of her death. She was married to Charles Holzapfel in Germany in 1871, and together they came to the United States in October, 1876. They stopped at Topeka for a short time and then came on to Pawnee county, settling on a farm six miles southwest of Larned, where they lived until the death of Mr. Holzapfel in 1902, after which time she moved to Larned.

She was the mother of six children, three boys and three girls, of whom only two survive, William and Harry, both of Larned. She also leaves an adopted son, Milton Holzapfel, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Ella Mautray, both of whom live in this county. She was a member of the church of God.
