"Morris Butts, aged eighty-nine years, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. H. Marlette near Mt. Vision, Sunday evening, from a complication of diseases. He was born at Butts Corners, town of Laurens, October 1839. He had been a resident of that town his entire life, where he was much respected. October 21, 1850, he married Eliza Gilbert of the town of Laurens, who survives him. Five children were born to them of whom Mrs. Marlette is the only one living. Three grandchildren, Mrs. Lewis Soden of Sidney and Herbert and Gilbert Marlette of Mt. Vision. One great-grand-daughter and one great-great-great grand-son, Mrs. Dudley Wickham and her son, Robert Wickham, of Schenectady survive him. Mr. Butts had voted at sixty-eight elections. The only election he missed was when he and his wife drove to Steuben county on their wedding trip. Mr. Butts grand-parents came from Connecticut to the town of Laurens in 1789, and settled in Butts Corners.---Our Mt. Vision Reporter."
