Hattie Jones was born in 1881 at Ponca, Nebraska. She was 21 in 1904 when she came with her best friend from Nebraska to North Dakota to homestead in Rolling Green Township, Ward County, N.D. In 1905 she married Edward E. O'Kins. He was born in 1875 in Minnesota. He also had homesteaded in Ward County. They farmed in Ward County and raised six children. Hattie died in 1921 and Edward in 1941.
