Obituary: David L. Greer

Dave Greer, beloved husband, father and friend, was released from his 12 year struggle with melanoma at home in Falcon (Peyton), Colorado on Sunday, May 6, 2012. Dave's heart was always powered by fun and racing fuel. He was "Almost Famous Five Times," as a driver and owner of funny cars, dragsters and other acceleration vehicles, racing at Bandemere Speedway in Denver, Mile High Raceway, Thunder Road, and many more. On the home front, he loved his family even more than his cars. His Daughter Tammy Greer and stepdaughters Sarah Perkins and Crystal VanEekhout (Bryan VanEekhout), Grandsons Michael Allison and Willem VanEekhout, Wife Debra, Sister Pat Anda and many relatives and long time friends will miss Dave's jokes and laughter. Dave donated his body for medical research to the Colorado State Anatomical Board for the benefit of mankind. A Celebration of Dave's life will be held rain or shine at Dave's home in Falcon on Sunday, May 20, from 2 pm-? Pot Luck BBQ BYOB a side dish and a lawn chair. 13075 Sunny Slope Rd. Falcon, Colorado 80831. Info: 719-499-3874 Deb.

Personal Notes:

Dave Greer spent much of his life racing and taught many others as well. I for one was taught by Dave, how to count the lights so that I could hit them just right. One time I hit the lights so close I tripped them from red then back to green. This was one of Dave's tricks. He did this so many times. I was very surprised though when I did it it myself just by using Dave's method of counting the lights.

I am sure Dave taught his daughter how to ride her bicycle. He was there to teach me how to ride my bicycle when I was just seven years old. I have known Dave for most of my life and I will miss him, too!
