1994 recipient of the New York Dignity Chapter's renowned Charles Gormley Award

Born and raised in West Chester Fr. Hoskins was a member of the Baptist Church of West Chester, where he got his early start in the Church choir. Fr. auditioned for Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour at the age of six. He entertained other children in elementary school, sang in junior and senior high school, in concerts and plays and as a senior soloist where he sang at his graduation from B. Reed Henderson High School in 1967. Father then attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia and St. Charles Borromeo Seminary and the H.B. Studio in New York City. Father took voice lessons while in college, participate in opera workshops and was a lover of music. He was a lifetime member of the Actors Fund of New York. Fr. Hoskins sang for hundred of weddings and funerals while in college.

He converted to Roman Catholicism in 1970 and was accepted and began studies for the Priesthood at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in 1971. While at St. Charles, he ministered at Inglis House - Home for Incurables in Philadelphia, Casa Del Carmen, Spanish Social Agency in North Philadelphia, Holy Spirit Parish in South Philadelphia and as a Deacon at St. Francis De Sale Parish in West Philadelphia. Father Hoskins was one of twenty one priests ordained by John Cardinal Krol in the bicentennial year 1976. Assignments included Resurrection of Our Lord Parish where among other activities he formed a choir which produced a record album, SS. Simon and Jude Parish in Westtown and St. Francis De Sales in Lenni. During his time in these parishes, besides his priestly duties he was also a sought out Retreat Master, Homilist and Spiritual Director. Father converted over 100 souls to the Roman Catholic Faith.

Ronald repositioned himself in New York City in 1988, in order to be able to provide ministry to members of the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Catholic Community of New York City and the surrounding areas, provided ministry to Dignity/New York, Dignity/Big Apple, Dignity/Brooklyn, Dignity/Queens, Dignity/Staten Island, Dignity/Nassau County and Dignity/Philadelphia. He was the 1994 recipient of the New York Dignity Chapter's renowned Charles Gormley Award and received several awards bestowed by Dignity/Philadelphia. He was the main celebrant of the 25th Anniversary Stonewall Mass at St. Bartholomew's Church on Park Avenue in 1994. He also was the Retreat Master of Mustard Seed, a New York/New Jersey Gay and Lesbian Catholic Spiritual Group for 20 years.

While living in New York Father worked at Gay Men's Health Crisis, the oldest and largest HIV/AIDS Organization in the world. He worked there for almost seven years and held many positions, including Coordinator of Crisis Intervention Services and ultimately becoming the Acting Director of Client Services. He also had the opportunity of providing ministry to the HIV/AIDS Community in New York City with Father Mychal Judge, who was the first official casualty of 9/11 at the World Trade Centers.

In 1994 he came to Philadelphia to work at Action Wellness (previously known as Actionaids) to continue his Aids work. He retired from there after almost twenty five years as the Director of Volunteers and specifically Director of the nationally known "Buddy Program" the largest in the United States. While living in Philadelphia, he also ministered to Dignity Philadelphia for 30 years and was Priest Chaplain for almost 25 of those 30 years. After confronting and challenging Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua in 1998 in regard to the lack of ministry, counseling and outreach to the Philadelphia Gay Catholic Community, he became a pioneer in providing positive spiritual ministry to both the New York and Philadelphia areas LBBTQ Communities for decades.
