COTTAGE HILLS - Von C. Dixon, 76, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 1994, at Alton Memorial Hospital.
He worked at Olin Corp. in the shipping department of the Brass Mill for 37 years, retiring in 1978. A U.S. Army World War II veteran, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cottage Hills and Bethalto American Legion.
Born May 8,1918, in Old Monroe, Mo., he was the son of the late Leslie and Florence (Besselman) Dixon.
He married the former Sarah Alice Kimberly Oct. 15, 1938, in Winfield, Mo. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Annette Clark of Marion, Sandra Dixon of Eustace, Texas, and Wanda Rankin of Edwardsville; a son, Earl Dixon of Dallas; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Annebelle Kitson and Eileen Herring, both of Winfield.
Preceding him in death were three brothers, William, Thomas and Charles Dixon, and a son, Jimmy Dixon.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. today at Elias-Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto, where services will be at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Steve Dotson will officiate.
Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bethalto.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Foundation.
