MAGGIE HORN YANCEY

Funeral services for Mrs. Maggie Horn Yancey, 80, of Spurger, Tex. will be a 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church in Spurger. She died at 8:30a.m. Sunday in Baptist Hospital in Beaumont after a short illness. She made her home in Brooklyn (Brookeland), Tex. for 41 years and was a member of the Brooklyn (Brookeland) Missionary Baptist Church. She was a native of Spurger and had made her home there for the past 15 years. She was a precious Mother and a dear wife. Mr. and Mrs. Yancey celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary on Jan. 30th of this year. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Jasper, Tex. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Survivors include her husband, D. C. Yancey, Sr. of Spurger; four sons, R. E. Yancey of Groves, D.C. Yancey, Jr. and Clyde W. Yancey, both of Beaumont and Joe Carter Yancey of Port Neches; two daughters, Mrs. Annie Laura Lakey of Vidor and Mrs. Marguerite Turner of Houston, one sister, Mrs. Myrtie Raschke of Baytown; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. The Rev. Kirkland will officiate.
