He was born in Roxboro, NC and lived in Grundy, VA and Lebanon, VA before moving to Knoxville, TN in 1978.
He owned and operated the Russell Hardware & Furniture Company in Lebanon, VA for many years. He also owned & operated Perks Markets in Maryville, TN for 18 years until he retired. He was of the Southern Baptist Faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Betty Perkins of Knoxville, TN; two daughters, Melissa Vandyke of Knoxville, TN and Mardell Larcen or Saratoga, CA; one son, Hunter Perkins of Kingsport, TN; and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted in the Campbell Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tommy Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Knollkreg Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Tom Morgan, Harvey Vandyke, Don Atwell, Zane Gervin, H.C. Pratt, Jr., and Jack Kindle. Campbell Funeral Home of Abingdon, VA is in charge of arrangements.
