Died at Veterans Hospital (Wood).
US Army 13 Mar 1918 - 10 Dec 1918
Capt. 322 Sn TN 97
Army Med. Corps.

Member of the Schlender-Polly Post #239 American Legion

Community doctor in Tigerton for over 43 years. He had been a patient at the Veterans Hospital for two weeks. He had been in poor health for the past 3 years since his retirement from active practice; but became seriously ill in mid October.

He is survived by his wife, the former Mayme Roemer, whom he married in Spokane, Washington and two children, one sister, two brothers, and 3 grandchildren.

A graduate of the Northwestern University Medical School. His family moved to Wittenberg when young Adam was 9 years old. He attended grade and high school at Wittenberg and taught District school in Town of Wittenberg for 5 years, and then went to Lawrence College and Oshkosh Norman before entering Northwestern for his medical training.

Upon graduation from Northwestern in 1905, he came to Tigerton in August of that year to practice medicine. Except for a period from 1917 to the close of the first World War, when he served in the Army Medical Corps, at Fort Riley, Kansas and Deming, New Mexico, he had been our community doctor continously.

He was discharged from military duty with the rank of Major and since that time has been an active and valued member of the local American Legion Post.

He found time to engage in civil work. He was a member of the Grade School Board for 18 years, and the High School Board for 14 years. He was village president for a number of years; and it was due to his untiring efforts that Tigerton has a good and efficient water works service. The doctor was also chiefly instrumental in the building of our public baseball park and the development of the village park now know as the Legion and Boy Scout headquarters.

He was made an honorary member of the State Medical Society on the 14th of August 1949. During his days of work, he was a member of the Shawano Medical Society and the American Medical Association; and during the past 8 years of his practice he was a member of the State Board of Medical Examiners.
