John Charles Deckelman, 81, of Tow died August 6, 2006. He was born in Lubbock on January 30, 1925 to John C. and Ruby (Marcott) Deckelman. Mr. Deckelman started his own business, Deckelman's Typewriter Service of Lubbock, in 1946. The business was located at 1316 Main Street and then moved to its present location, 1819 19th Street. He married Billie Baisden Isom in Henrietta on July 29, 1969. After retiring in 1979, he and Billie moved to Tow where he enjoyed fishing and hunting and the opportunity to travel.


Mr. Deckelman is survived by his wife, Billie of Tow; a step-son, Bill Isom and a step-daughter, Donna Archer, both of Tow; sister, Mary Anna McMahan of Lubbock; step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held tonight, August, 10, 2006 at 7 p.m. in the Rix Funeral Directors Chapel in Lubbock. Reverend Monsignor Eugene J. Driscoll of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lubbock will officiate.

The family requests memorial contributions are made to Llano Memorial Hospice, 200 W. Ollie Street, Llano, Texas 78643 or Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 9821 Frankford Avenue, Lubbock, Texas 79424.
