IN MEMORY OF JAMES VERNON ELLIS

On July 15, 1848, in the state of Massachusetts, Vernon Ellis, the subject of this brief sketch was born. He came with his parents to this state when a small child and in 1875 was married to Mrs. Martha Springer Phillips, who survives him.

In 1878, their one child, Mrs. Ada May, was born, who became Mrs. W.T. Gokey and whose death occurred about a year ago.

For over half a century Mr. Ellis has been a resident of Daysville and was one of its best known and highly respected inhabitants. He and his wife became identified with Daysville church and were steady attendants; their home being always open for church socials, and were always ready to help in any way they could.

Mr. Ellis was of strong constitution, but after the death of his daughter, his health rapidly failed, and on April 17th, 1926, his death occurred.

Besides his widow, he leaves two grandchildren, Lucille and Erson Gokey of Pulaski, to whom the sympathy of all is extended.
