Hazel R. Pinkerton, 86, of 304 Florine Lane, New Castle, passed away the morning of Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Jameson Hospital North.

Born April 6, 1925, in Edinburg, she was a daughter of Howard B. and Mary Maitland Seamans.

Hazel married Arwood W. Pinkerton on Oct. 16, 1939. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 2008.

She attended Union High School. She worked as a clerk at J.C. Penney Co. for 19 years. Hazel was a member of Wimadausis and Challenges. She enjoyed quilting and traveling. She was a member of Kings Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley (Edward) Weber of Enon Valley and Donna Ziegler of New Castle; a son and daughter-in-law Arwood (Sylvia) Pinkerton Jr. of New Castle; nine grandchildren, Todd Weber, Greg Weber, Gary Weber, Vicki Vitalo, Brian Pinkerton, Keith Pinkerton, Eric Pinkerton, Bradley Zeigler and Melissa Scharper; and 23 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Adda Aeppli; and six brothers, Jerry, John, Fred, Charles, William and Wilber Seamans.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at the funeral home. The Rev. Rex Wasser and the Rev. Dick Henderson will officiate.

Burial will be at Kings Chapel Cemetery.
