Betty Mae Litton 79 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, April 3, 2009 at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be directed to the V.F.W Ladies Auxiliary. According to her wishes her body has been cremated.
Betty was born on August 31, 1929, at West Point, Iowa, the daughter of Glen Raymond & Wilna Leota Smith Grinstead. She was united in marriage to Wendell L. Litton on November 1, 1949 in Mt. Pleasant. Betty worked at Healitor in Mt. Pleasant for 17 yrs before she retired in 1992. Betty did volunteer work at many different places, and collected ball caps and stuffed animals for the county home residents as prizes for bingo. She loved gardening and crafts. Betty was always helping someone, she loved to cook and there was room for everyone at her table. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by her husband Wendell of Mt. Pleasant and her children: Holly Fay Hanson and her husband Virgil of Cedar Rapids, Terry Lee Schifferns of Kearney, Nebraska, and her husband Jeff Gerdes, Sandra Sue Potts of Kileen, Texas and Conny Gay Brake and her husband Larry of North Port, Florida. 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. One sister: Leota Gilbert and her husband Joe of Villa Park, Illinois. One nephew Raymond Grinstead and his wife Lois of Newton, Iowa.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Edward Grinstead.
