The Rev. Lanta A. Sholley Jr., a Lebanon native, pastor of the Osceola Mills Center and United Methodist Church, died suddenly yesterday at his home at the age of 46. Born in Lebanon, he was a son of the late Lanta A. and Leah Gerberich Sholley. He served the following churches: Oakdale Church of the Brethren, New Bethlehem, 1960-62; Marticville United Methodist Church, Lancaster County, 1963-65; Emburey United Methodist Church, Chicago, Ill., 1967-69; Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, Carlisle, 1969-73; Monroton United Methodist Church, 1973-74 and the Keystone-Perry United Methodist Church, Marysville, 1974-76. He had been at Osceola Mills since July 1976. He was a member of the Chi-Rho Chorus, composed of United Methodist ministers from Central Pennsylvania; Phillipsburg Area Community Chorus; Columbia Fire Co., Osceola; Phillipsburg Kiwanis club; and the Central Pennsylvania Conference of the United Methodist Church. He was also vice president of the Phillipsburg Ministerium. A 1957 graduate of Lebanon Valley College, he graduated from the Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1976 with a master of divinity degree. He is survived by his wife Adora Rabiger Sholley; a sister, Esther, wife of Jack K. Hopple, Lebanon and two nieces. [Lebanon Daily News, August 6, 1977, Page 2]
