Obituary, Toledo [OH] Blade, 4 May 2012:

Bettie Jane Abbe, 91, passed away surrounded by her loving family on April 30, 2012. She was born December 4, 1920, in Toledo, Ohio to the late Arthur and Ethel Blankenstein. She graduated from Woodward High School in 1938. While in high school, Bettie met the love her life, Francis, whom she married on May 30, 1941. Bettie was the bookkeeper for the family business, William Abbe and Sons Casket Company until they sold the business in 1973. She and her husband moved to Colony Cove in Ellenton, FL in 1976 where they lived for 28 years before moving to Jacksonville Beach to be close to family. She volunteered for 15 years with Meals-on-Wheels. Bettie is survived by her loving daughter, Linda (Joe) Abrass; grandchildren, Steve (Suzette) Abrass and their children, Megan and Mallory, Jill (Mac) Easton and their children C.J., Abbe and Ben all of Atlantic Beach, FL; daughter-in-law, Jan Abbe, and her children, Andrea and Evan all of Ohio. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Francis Abbe; son, Philip, and sister, Dorothy Wyatt. The family would like to thank Ashford Court and their staff for loving Bettie. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2012, in the Chapel of Beach United Methodist Church, 425 7th Avenue North, Jacksonville Beach, FL with the Rev. Jerry Sweat officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Dial-A-Ride, 281 19th Ave. S., Jax Beach, FL 32250.
