Emma Louise Hockman,beloved wife of Charles J. Hockman, Mt. Jackson, VA died of Congestive Heart Failure, September 9th, 2000 in the Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital at Woodstock, VA.
Born February 7th, 1920 in Dennison, Ohio, the daughter of the late Connie (Conaway) and Katherine Huhn Ludwig. Graduate of Dennison High School-1937 and Livingston Academy of Design and Dress making in Washington, DC. She followed that profession for 35 years, during which she made odd sized clothing; and hundreds of children’s dancing costumes.
Emma helped greatly to get the Food Pantry and Clothes Closet started and organized in the Breadway Presbyterian Church, where she was a member for 22 years.
She and her husband would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on October 3rd. Emma was a devoted homemaker, loved and respected by her friends and neighbors.
Survived by her husband, also survived by two brothers. Frederick C. Ludwig of New Philadelphia, Ohio and Carl E. Ludwig of Juneau, Wisconsin, also by two nephews- Ronnie J. Ludwig of Dover, Ohio, and Cole R. Ludwig of Albany, Wisconsin.
Services conducted Tuesday, Sept. 12th at 2:00 P.M. in the Valley Funeral Chapel at Bowman’s Crossing by John McDonald of Broadway Presbyterian Church.
Internment - Mt. Olive cemetery west of Toms Brook, VA.
