Kirk P. Byrn Jr. dies
MAYFIELD, Ky. - Long-time Mayfield funeral director Kirk P. Byrn Jr., died at 2:45 a.m. Thursday at his home at 203 Golfcart Drive. He was 73.
Mr. Byrn owned and operated Byrn Funeral Home for 52 years.
He was past president of the Kentucky Funeral Directors Association and was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mayfield.
Surviving are his wife, Flora Robbins Byrn; a son, Kirk P. Byrn III of Mayfield; three daughters, Edith Gayle Haynes of Williamsburg, Va., Patricia Byrn of Paducah, and Lucy Kelley of Greenville, N.C.; a sister, Lucy Benoit of Charlotte, N.C., and seven grandchildren.
His parents were Kirk Patrick Byrn and Edith Earl Stevenson Byrn. A sister, Charlotte Louise Byrn, also preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Byrn Funeral Home. The Rev. John Huffman will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
