Charles "Charley" was the eldest of three children born to William H. Bishop (1840-1917) and Mary Ellen Stevenson who married on 9 Mar. 1862 in Kosciusko Co., Indiana.

Charley's two younger sisters were Effie M. (1866-1939) and Maty M. (1868-1950).

On 1 Mar. 1885, Charley married Florelia "Flora" R. Kyser (1865-1926) in Marshall Co., Indiana. They had seven children together (per 1900 Census)--Clifford Marion (b.1888), Elsworth Earl (1891-1961), Walter Andrew (1898-1952), Effie Elizabeth (1898-1952), Edna I. (1902-1929), and two unidentified children who had died before 1900.

I found the family on the 1900 Census, living in Union (today Culver). Charley was working as a stone mason.

Somtime before 1919, Charley and Flora divorced and Charley married Lillie Mae Brown Brodbelt (1888-1960) on 18 Oct. 1919 in Kosciusko Co., Indiana. Mae had been previously married to Elmer Ellsworth Brodbelt on 16 Jul. 1908 In Warsaw, Kosciusko Co. Elmer and Mae had two children together--Minnie M. (b.1911) and Glen E. (b.1914). I found whom I think is Elmer on the 1920 Census, divorced, living in Harrison, Kosciusko Co. with Merle and Elizabeth Yocum. The children, Minnie and Glen, appear with Mae and new husband Charley on the 1920 Census.

After marrying Mae, they took up residence in Union where I found them on the 1920 and 1930 Census. Charley was still working as a stone mason in 1920, but by 1930 he was a "yard man" at a "hotel".

Charley and Mae had six children together--Wilma F. (b.1921), Wayne W. (1922-1997), Iris L. (b.1925), Russell Charles (1926-2011), Louis B. (1928-1977) and Norma Jean (1931-1993).

Charley died in 1931 at age 68.
