She was born Monday, August 31, 1936 at Parsons, WV, a daughter of the late Charles and Lettie Catherine Martin Lanham. She was married to Robert William Sturms, who preceded her in death April 10, 1973.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Steven "Steve" Sturms of Parsons and Charles Brian Sturms of Key West, FL; one grandson, Steven "Matthew" Sturms and wife Lisa of Michigan; and four great grandchildren, Jacob, Donovan, Collin and Lila, all of Michigan; and a very special friend, Helen Miller Harris of Parsons.
She is the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Arthur "Boo" Lanham and Wallace Orie "Bud" Lanham.
She was a graduate of Parsons High School with the Class of 1956. She was a nurse's aid at the former Tucker County Hospital for over twenty years, until its closing. She was a Methodist by faith and she loved gardening, flowers and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles with her son's.
The family will receive friends at the Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Parsons on Thursday from 5 to 8 PM. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home parlor on Friday, May 25, 2012 at 11:30 AM. Pastor Allen D. Crosten and Pastor Loren Metzner will officiate and interment will follow at the Parsons City Cemetery at Parsons.
