Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Seydler-Hill Funeral Chapel for Jake Smith of 418 St. Michael Street, who died in Memorial Hospital at 12:10 p.m. March 28.
The Rev. Warren Hornung, pastor of the First United Methodist Church and the Rev. Harvey Hoffman, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiated at the seer with burial in the City cemetery. Mr. Smith was born in Caldwell county on December 18, 1901, the son of Jim and Nancy Jane Swindell Smith, natives of Caldwell county. He was retired I spank airplane mechanic and at one time resided in San Antonio.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and of the Masonic Lodge. He had also served in the U.S. Army during the First World War.
