Alton was born in Cego, Texas, to the late Clark "Pete" Bridger and Dora (Beauchamp) Bridger. He graduated from Waco High School in 1949, and he served as a member of the United States Air Force. Beginning at age 13 as a stock boy, Alton worked for Levine's Department Stores and retired as a store manager 30 years later. Alton began his second career as owner of Sweet Air Inc. after which he began his third career (and his passion) when he traded his suits for blue jeans and drove for Central Freight Lines for over ten years. He was very proud of his 10 year safe driving award. Alton was also honored as a Master Mason with 50 years of service in 2011.
Alton's greatest joy was spending time with family, especially his loving wife, Genean. Alton and Genean were married for over 60 years and loved sharing coffee together at their "house on the hill." Alton was also an ace "42" player. But mostly Alton was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Alton was preceded in death by his six siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Genean, of Clifton; daughter, Kathryn Case, of Mustang, Okla.; sons, Kenneth and wife, Debra, of Clifton, and David Bridger and fiancée, Robin, of Red Oak; grandchildren, Grant and wife, Courtney, Jessica and Mariano, Clark and Denton, Lauren and David, and Cameron Bridger; great-grandchildren, Henry, Trent, Kaylie, Jasin, and Hadin; and many more family members and friends.
