Mrs. Alice Ackley, 87, a member of a pioneer Marin family and life-long resident of the county, died today at a local hospital following a brief illness.
Mrs. Ackley was born Alice James at Tomales. Her father, John James, first arrived at Tomales in 1863. For many years he maintained the James Dairy Ranch in the area.
Living with her daughter, Mrs. Alice Cobb at San Quentin village, just before her death, Mrs. Ackley had never moved away from Marin.
Her husband, the late Myron D. Ackley, was a correctional officer at San Quentin.
Surviving are 2 sons, Elmer and Arthur Ackley; a daughter, Mrs. Cobb; and 3 grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be held tomorrow at Keaton's Mortuary, San Rafael. Burial will be at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery.
