Mrs. Elvin Ashby Succumbs at 71
Mary E. Silvius Ashby, 71, of 355 S. Prince St., died Saturday morning. She was a guest at the Duke Convalescent Residence since May.
She and her husband, Elvin Ashby, observed their 51st wedding anniversary March 30. Mrs. Ashby was a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. A life-long resident of Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Sherry Arthur and Maude Buckley Silvius.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters: Geraldine M., wife of William McFarland, New Providence R1; Violet L., wife of Walter Henry, Willow Street R3; and Alverna M., wife of Clayton Weaver, Lancaster, R6; and seven sons: Elvin Jr., of Clearwater, FL; George E., Richard E., Aaron E., Sherry A., James F., and Kenneth G. Ashby, all of Lancaster.
Also surviving are 27 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Francis A. Silvius, of Princeton, IL and Leon J. Rice, of Chicago, IL.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from The Gundel Funeral Home, 415 N. Duke St., Lancaster, PA on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Alan L. Potter officiating. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. Friends may call at The Gundel Funeral Home, Lancaster, PA, on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.
