Percy "Blackie" Phillips passed away at his residence in Blairstown on Monday, Feb. 9, 2004. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from North Africa to Casino, Italy, with four years of active duty as an artillery forward observer. He was a member of Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 995 and attended St. Aloysius Catholic Church before his illness.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Diane Phillips and Mike Townsend of Blairstown; three grandchildren, the Rev. Michael M. Townsend II, Cathie Townsend Walter and husband Jerry Walter and Anne Townsend Longfellow and husband Tom Longfellow; four great-grandchildren, Lee and Wes Longfellow and Laura Ann and Nancy Hope Walter.

Preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Joyce Phillips.
