Elvin L. Ashby Sr., Retiree, Dies at 76
Elvin L. Ashby Sr., 76, of 355 S. Prince St., died at 8 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital following an illness of three months.
He retired in 1966 from Pennsylvania Malleable Iron Division, Lancaster.
He was the husband of the late Mary E. Silvius Ashby, who died last July 5. Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Frank R. and Elizabeth McCombs Ashby.
He is survived by three daughters: Geraldine M., wife of William McFarland, New Providence, R1; Violet L., wife of Walter Henry, Willow Street R3, and Alverna M., wife of Clayton Weaver, Lancaster R6; and seven sons: Elvin L. Jr., Clearwater, FL; and George E., Richard E., Aaron G., Sherry A., James F., and Kenneth C., all of Lancaster.
He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Elmer and Albert, both of Lancaster.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from The Gundel Funeral Home, 415 N. Duke St., Lancaster, PA on Friday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Alan L. Potter officiating. Interment in Conestoga Memorial Park. Friends may call at The Gundel Funeral Home, Lancaster, PA, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. Please omit flowers.
