Obituary
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 at a 9:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial in La Chapelle de Martin & Castille for Elena M. Broussard, 95, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3, 2006 at Lafayette General Medical Center.

Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Lafayette.

Reverend Keith J. DeRouen, Rector of Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, will be the Celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Karen Broussard, organist and soloist, will sing for the services, "J'irai la voir un jour", "Prayer Of St. Francis", "Be Not Afraid", "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman", and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee". Lector for the funeral Mass will be Reverend Keith J. DeRouen.

Survivors include two daughters, Jacqueline Castille and her husband, Dallas of Lafayette, and Pearl Maciejewski and her husband, Dennis of Aurora, CO.; one son, Michael W. Broussard and his wife, Judy of Breaux Bridge; one daughter-in-law, Mary Navarre Broussard of Lafayette; eighteen grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; seventeen great-great grandchildren; and one sister, Hilda Boutin of Lafayette.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alexandre "Alexson" Broussard; two sons, Curtis and John Alvin Broussard; one sister, Rena Janise; four brothers, Ophee, Ernest, Joseph and Michael Mayers; one grandson; one great grandson; and her parents, Octave Mayers and Cecile Boudreaux Mayers.

A native and lifelong resident of Lafayette, Louisiana Mrs. Broussard was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother; sister, and friend to all who knew her. She worked as a Proof Reader for the Daily Advertiser for over twenty-seven years until her retirement. Mrs. Broussard was very devoted to her faith and her family. She was a generous and loving person, affectionately known as "Nan", to those close to her. Mrs. Broussard enjoyed playing Bingo and Pokeno. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Pallbearers will be Damian T. Broussard, Chance M. Broussard, Michael J. Castille, Kyle J. Castille, John A. Broussard, and James E. Broussard
