Evelyn M. Kunkel, 90, formerly of Kempton, died Nov. 15, 2009 in Alexandria Manor, Nazareth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. Kunkel, in 2005.
Born in Albany Township, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Libbie (Hamm) Bond. She last worked as a machine operator for the former Fleetwood Shirt Factory for 10 years retiring in 1984. Prior to that, both she and her husband operated a seasonal greenhouse business at their residence, from 1958-72.
She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of New Bethel Union Church, Kempton, where she also served as a former church quilter, was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and the Lutheran Church Womens Association.
Survivors: Son, Rev. John C. Kunkel and his wife, Sally A. (Howerter), of Nazareth; sister, Mrs. Erma Merkel of Lenhartsville; brother, Norman P. Bond and his wife, Betty, of Kutztown; two grandsons, Christopher and Michael Kunkel.
Services: 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009 in New Bethel Union Church, 135 New Bethel Church Road, Kempton, with the Rev. David W. Blitch officiating. No viewing.
Interment in adjoining cemetery. The Nester Funeral Home, New Tripoli, is in charge of arrangements.
