He was born October 16, 1914 to Fredrick and Katherine Rusch in Campbellsport, WI. He graduated from Campbellsport High School, continuing his education at Mission House College, where he graduated in 1935.
He was married to Marian Beisser on June 28, 1939 in Campbellsport. He taught high school at Howards Grove, then Lakeland College where he was the Athletic Director, Dean of Men and Professor of Mathematics. He later taught 3 ½ years at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, then at the State University of New York, at Oneonta, NY and later at Parsons College in Fairfield, IA He then taught at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, where he was chairman of the Mathematic Department. He returned to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, and retired as Professor Emeritus, in 1987 after 22 ½ years at the school.
He was a member of the American Mathematical Society and the Eau Claire Noon Kiwanis Club and also the National Council Teachers of mathematics.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Dr. Frederic of Terre Haute, IN; three daughters, Sandra Hofsommer of St. Cloud, MN, Margaret Hammer of Des Moines, IA and Kristine Rusch of Eugene, OR; his mother, Katherine of West Bend, WI; and a sister, Mary Wendtlandt of Fort Atkinson, WI.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 1990 at First Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Ronald D. Wilson officiating. Burial is at Forest Hills Cemetery in Eau Claire.
