Julian Thomas Lunsford, 104, was the son of the late C.A. Lunsford and Estelle James Lunsford.

Julian was employed with the former Cannon Mills Company, Plant #4, #1 Weave Room for 48 years, until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Kannapolis, where in earlier years he ushered. After he retired from work, he would meet with friends at the old Roses snack bar and fellowship for hours.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in an artillery division in the European Theatre of Operations He was a life member of the V F.W. Poston-Perkins Post 8989 and the D.A.V. Chapter 54. He was also a member of Cannon Memorial Masonic Lodge # 626 for over 60 years. Julian loved fishing, especially with his granddaughters. He and his late wife loved traveling to places like Gatlinburg, Tenn. and Williamsburg, Va. They also loved picnicking at places like Morrow Mountain, Chimney Rock State Park, and their own back yard. They would prepare large meals instead of sandwiches like green beans, salads, and corn bread for these special times. Julian loved walking. Not only walking the neighborhood but would walk to Carolina Memorial Park and back just to visit his late wife's gravesite.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Etta Bond Lunsford; a granddaughter, Cathy Neibur; five brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include his two daughters, one great-granddaughter, one great-grandson, and one sister.
