Mrs. Mary A. Basinger
Chaumont. Mrs. Mary A. Basinger died at her home on Academy Street in this village Thursday at 1, aged 63 years. She was the daughter of Alexander and Malinda Lansing of the Town of Thurlow, County of Lennox, Ont., where she was born March 21, 1840. In 1856, at the age of 16, she married George D. McPherson of Thurlow. They moved to Three Mile Bay in 1871 where Mr. McPherson died Feb. 23, 1886. On May 12, 1887, she married Jacob B. Basinger, who died May 31, 1805. Mrs. Basinger moved to Chaumont three years ago. She was greatly esteemed in the community for her many virtues. She was a member of the Chaumont M. E. Church. Besides her four children, William, Angus and John McPherson and Mrs. Emma Peck of this town, she is survived by a sister, Miss Phoebe Lansing, who cared for her in her last illness.


The funeral will be held from the late residence of the deceased on Saturday at 2. Interment will be made in Cedar Grove Cemetery,
