Alden Times Apr 13, 1900
Last Thursday afternoon J. D. Underwood came into his home after a days labor and remarked that he was feeling a little tired and wanted some medicine. His wife started to get it for him but he instantly dropped to the floor and in a very short time breathed his last in spite of all that could be done for him. He was one of the well known landmarks of Buckeye Township and had reached the age of 75 years on the 11th of last month. The funeral was held at the Methodist church in Alden on Sunday morning, the service being conducted by Rev. E. Robbins and the remains were laid to rest in the Cemetery being followed by a large number of relatives and neighbors.
