Suggested edit: Hugh Frank Nely, 80, retired Mexico businessman, and a resident here for 48 years, died at 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his home, 803 East Jackson, where he and his only daughter, Miss Blanche Neely resided. Death came after a week's illness following a stroke of paralysis on Sunday, October 15. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Precht Funeral Chapel by the Reverend Lawrence Fitgerald, pastor of the First Baptist church, to which Mr. Neely belonged, having become identified with that denomination early in life when he joined the Salem church in Ralls county. Burial was at Elmwood Cemetery, and pallbearers were J.B. Slavens, Dr. P.E. Coil, J.C. Mundy, Joe Beatty, B.M. Bush and W.H. Sword.

Born September 27, 1859, near New London, Mr. Neely was one of the five children of John P. and Hannah Gynn Neely. He was married August 23, 1877, to Annie M. Bell, who died here April 6, 1938. To them were born a son, Roy Neely, and a daughter, Miss Blanche, who survive. Mr. Neely also leaves a brother, Sam L. Neely of New London; four grandchildren, Morris Neely of Independence, and Mrs. Stanley Peters, R.J. and Forrest Neely of Mexico, and five great grandchildren.

The Ledger extends sympathy.
