Farmer and merchant who lived in Rankin County, Mississippi. Married to Mary D. Brown. He served as a private in the 28th Mississippi Cavalry, Company G, during the Civil War.

From the Jackson Daily News, October 1, 1903, p. 7:

Mr. D. H. Brown died last night at the home of his son-in-law, Mr. E. E. Frantz, on North street. Mr. Brown had been sick for a week or more with bowel trouble. Mr. Brown was 68 years of age and was for many years a resident of Rankin county, but some months ago he and his wife moved to the city. Mr. Brown was a consistent member of the Methodist church and an estimable Christian man. He was greatly beloved by the people of Rankin county, among whom he had lived for so long. The funeral took place this afternoon at 4 o’clock from Mr. Frantz’s residence, and was conducted by Rev. W. T. Bolling of the First Methodist church. The following were the pall-bearers: Gen. Robert Lowry, Gen. Wm. Henry, D. B. McKee, E. H. Reber, A. T. Falls, R. H. Henry, R. K. Hayne, W. S. Lemly, J. B. Lusk, and W. G. Kirkpatrick. The interment was at Greenwood cemetery. The bereaved relatives have the sympathy of a large circle of friends. Mr. Brown is survived by a wife and several children.
